Thanks, Forrest. Being logged in or out (as myself or Guest) didn't have any effect. I found Jaymes's CLI instructions, and they get me closer in vbox, I have to pass the --skip_src_removable and --skip_dst_removable flags to get it to start installing, but the script is failing now when it runs smartctl (the vdi doesn't expose a phony SMART status, I guess).
